Over current opponents

[edit]

@Gear495: Hello. Would you mind providing some sources to support your claim that the EZLN regards local cartels rather than the governments as their primary enemies? Regards, ときさき くるみ not because they are easy, but because they are hard 09:33, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Inter Milan

[edit]

Moving this section from Subcomandante Marcos as it's more related to EZLN relations than to Marcos himself. It would need better sourcing to be worked into this article and not be trivia, though.

Apart from cheering for local Liga MX side Chiapas F.C., which relocated to Querétaro in 2013, Subcomandante Marcos and the EZLN also support the Italian Serie A football club Inter Milan.[1][self-published source?] The contact between EZLN and Inter, one of Italy's biggest and most famous clubs, began in 2004 when an EZLN commander contacted a delegate from Inter Campus, the club's charity organization which has funded sports, water, and health projects in Chiapas.[citation needed]

In 2005, Inter's president Massimo Moratti received an invitation from Subcomandante Marcos to have Inter play a football game against a team of Zapatistas with Diego Maradona as referee. Subcomandante Marcos asked Inter to bring the match ball because the Zapatistas' ones were punctured.[2] Although the proposed spectacle never came to fruition, there has been continuing contact between Inter and the Zapatistas. Former captain Javier Zanetti has expressed sympathy for the Zapatista cause.[3]

mutual support for the ETA?

[edit]

I can't find any source for this. I did however find a source that suggests Subcomandante Galeano castigated the ETA for killing civilians https://insightcrime.org/news/analysis/how-mexicos-guerrilla-army-stayed-clear-of-organized-crime/ albeit it sources a link that is now dead. The source can be found on wayback machine here: https://web.archive.org/web/20230606140412/https://www.taringa.net/+info/carta-del-subcomandante-marcos-a-la-eta_hth50 This appears to be written by Subcomandante Galeano himself. Though I do not know how legitimate it is. 84.64.99.234 (talk) 00:39, 9 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
